From the war journal of a survivor of the War Among The Roses...
11th June 2006, Sunday
06:15 am - Woke up to the sound of my alarm clock (my handphone actually, but 4 gritty realism purposes facts hv been mingled with fiction n exaggerated ten fold!). After a few snooze attempts, I finally gave in; got up and did the routine morning drill.
07:30 am - By now, I was at the peak of physical and mental form; ready for battle. Not even an army could bring me down. Smug was my middle name and fear was licking my boots! *growl*...a rumbling comes. Damn it, I'm hungry! *sigh*...with a whimper all macho-bull goes down the drain.
07:45 am - Left the house. It was a sombre morning; wet and damp from the rain. Could this be a sign of things to come; of horrors I've only heard stories about; of bruises and pain; to suffer defeat in shame at the hand of the enemy. I wonder...
08:10 am - Sunshine came, and all doubts were put to rest as glorious light from the heavens lifted the veil of cloudy skies. Hmmm... War may be inevitable, but I will not go down without a fight (or an empty stomach); for an angel has given me strength to fight the good fight. Beware o' enemy, I am coming...*growl*. ok-ok, first a visit to McD.
08:30 am - Pit stop for provisions (McD breakfast take-out). Can't fight on an empty stomach, but not yet time so a cup o' joe will do...for now...
09:20 am - Arrived at the rendezvous point; not far from where wild beast roam (or mildly pacing their caged environments). Others have arrived, and it seems that they're eager for the battle to come. Have to keep my guard up, as the saying goes, "Roses are not without thorns" (is there such a saying?).
09:45 am - After a long (it seemed long with an empty stomach you know!) treacherous drive through narrow roads, along a river and deep green; never before did I know of such a place so near an urban jungle; finally we are there. First thing on my mind...when can I start munching on the McD breakfast?
10:30 am - Into the warzone we go; shots ablazed; ducking for cover with pellets flying through the air. Adrenalin pumping; no mercy for the weak (or unlucky enough to be a target, haha!). After the initial round, some have been injured (got the bruise & blood to show for it) but none are yet willing to give up...coz this so much fun! Second round starts. Laying down a rain of pellets on the enemy. Bang! Green blood oozed from my head. With dwindling ammo and foggy vision (damn mask!), the times when I find myself under heavy fire, unable to move. The war ended; though gruelling and painful for some; fun for many; most are eager for another go; one probably has sworn-off to never return again, muahaha....
12:30 pm - Lunchtime! After that, off we go on our seperate paths. Happy was I to survive the War Among The Roses. A prick on a thorn can be pretty painful, thats for sure! The war maybe over but the day is not yet at end as sunshine lights up the rest of my day, hehe...
